March is the month that we commemorate and encourage the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history. With the presentation of the Golden Globes last Sunday, we saw some records achieved by women actors, directors and producers. In particular, three women, Regina King, Chloe Zhao and Emerald Fennell were up for the prize of best director - a first for females. Chloe Zhao won the award for her work at the helm of the quiet but original film Nomadland starring Frances McDormand. Zhao is the first Asian female director to win the award. We also saw a lot of films with strong female leads such as On the Basis of Sex, Wonder Woman 1984, and Carol in the past few years.

All of my other Podcast Break blogs have been focused on young listeners.  And, yes, parents can enjoy listening to those programs with their kids and teens.  But now I have some suggestions just for YOU!  Parenting and podcasts go hand-in-hand. You can throw on a podcast whenever you're doing any of those endless, day-to-day parenting tasks and feel like you're somehow doubling your productivity.  Raising kids can sometimes be isolating, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic still in our midst, closing off some social circles where parents used to gather and commiserate. These podcasts make parents feel like they're not doing it alone.

With anything from classes, book discussion groups, your favorite fiction and nonfiction materials, to live music our adult services is sure to have something for everyone!
