February is Amnesty Month
During the month of February, you can return overdue materials to the Hoover Library or any Public Library in Jefferson County, and they will forgive past and present fines.
Your record will be cleared, and you can use your library card again.
How does it work?
Bring any undamaged, overdue library material to the circulation desk at any Public Library in Jefferson County.
The library will forgive the overdue fines.
There will be no fines assessed for any materials returned during Amnesty Month.
Do I have to go into the library, or will my fines automatically be waived or forgiven?
You may not have to visit the library in person. You might be able to just drop them off at one our book drops. It depends on your account. To ensure we have accounted for all your items and fines, we encourage you to stop by your local branch and speak to a library staff member about your account.
Why Fine Amnesty? Why is this important to the Hoover Library?
Fine Amnesty is important for two reasons: one, it helps bring people back to the library and reminds them we are here for all of our citizens, and two, it helps us reclaim lost or damaged materials. Our fine amnesty is designed to make this process as easy for our library members as possible.
