Downloadable Audiobooks

The libraries of Jefferson County offer a variety of digital audiobooks for checkout by library patrons. Patrons may access these audiobooks at any time using a computer and their Jefferson County library card.

  • Up to 5 titles may be checked out and reserved at a time
  • Titles check out for the patron's choice of 7, 14, or 21 days
  • Titles automatically check back in when the checkout period has expired, so there are no overdue books or late fees
  • All titles may be transferred to a portable listening device, including most iPods
  • Many titles may be burned to CD
  • Title selections include bestsellers, nonfiction, biographies, self-help, and children's/teens audiobooks

To start checking out and downloading digital audiobooks, you will need to:

  • Have access to a computer
  • Have a valid Jefferson County library card
  • Download and install the free Overdrive Media Console on your computer
  • Download and install Windows Media Player, version 9 or higher, on your computer (also a free download)
