Homeschool Hub Features Books, Brushes, and Gee's Bend

This semester of Homeschool Hub is gearing us up for a big moment in our state's history -- Alabama's Bicentennial.  The first offering hones in on Wilcox County, the majority African-American community in Boykin.  It sits in a bend of the Alabama River and is also known as Gee's Bend.  Learn more about the Gee's Bend Quiltmakers at Books and Brushes: Gee's Bend on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 2 p.m.  Local artist Claire Henning uses Stitchin' and Pullin' by Patricia C. McKissack to inspire paper quilt projects reminiscent of the famous Gee's Bend quilts.  Register online or by phone (444-7830) beginning 09/04.

You'll find even more books about Alabama's amazing past on the official Alabama Bicentennial booklist we've compiled.
