Homeschool Hub Welcomes the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

Our Homeschool Hub is proud to host the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute for our next event on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 2 p.m.  Explore the civil rights movement of 1963 Birmingham, including the Children’s March and Sixteenth Street Church Bombing with "Tug a War".  Registration is now open, so sign up online or by phone (205-444-7830).  After the presentation, browse the library's large collection of Black History books to learn even more!  We even have a special display because February is Black History Month.

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, part of the Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is a cultural and educational research center that promotes a comprehensive understanding for the significance of civil rights developments in Birmingham.  Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2017, BCRI reaches more than 150,000 individuals each year though award-winning programs and services.  Their mission is to enlighten each generation about civil and human rights by exploring our common past and working together in the present to build a better future. Visit them soon at 520 16th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35203.
