Discoveries in the Making is an educational outreach program that seeks to share the newest research and exciting progress being made by UAB graduate students. This month features Kathryn Oliver presenting "Cystic Fibrosis: A New Approach to Correcting the Basic Defect." Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that causes mucus buildup in the lungs, pancreas and intestines. As a result, patients with CF are unable to digest nutrients, leading to persistent lung infections and progressive difficulty breathing.
