The Shadow of the Wind
Set in 1945 Barcelona just after the Spanish Civil War, The Shadow of the Wind is about a boy named Daniel whose father takes him to the secret Cemetery of Forgotten Books, a huge library of old, forgotten titles lovingly preserved by a select few initiates. According to tradition, each initiate is allowed to take one book and must protect it for life. Daniel selects The Shadow of the Wind by unknown author, Julian Carax and becomes obsessed with Carax and his works only to discover that someone has been systematically destroying every book he has written. Before Daniel knows it, his seemingly innocent quest has opened a door into one of Barcelona's darkest secrets, an epic story of murder, magic, madness and doomed love.
