It's our Ninth Annual Battle of the Teen Bands.  Music fans and summer readers are invited to rock out with three competing teen bands - By Royal Decree, On the Sidewalk, and Thamaturgy - on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 6 p.m.  Each band performs a 20-minute / 3-song set in front of a panel of judges and a live audience.  The winner will receive a $300 grand prize, provided by the Friends of the Hoover Public Library.  Admission and refreshments are free.

This is the kick-off event for our Teen Summer Reading program - Read, Perchance to Dream.  Seventh - twelfth graders can earn a ticket for every 100 pages read.  Redeem tickets for prizes or entries into four grand prizes: Sansa MP3 Player, Sony HD Video Camera, Nintendo DSi XL, Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight.  Earn a free book by reading a total of 1,500 pages.  Stop by the Teen Spot to register, May 21 - July 13.
