Reader's Studio Braves the Sleet
Eleven of us braved the sleet on Monday, February 13 to share fractured fairy tales with the Reader's Studio, including two new friends. Welcome, Citlali and Sofia!
1. Alonna - Beauty and the Beaks: A Turkey's Cautionary Tale by Mary Jane & Herm Auch
2. Aziza - does not recommend her book
3. Citlali - Night of the Ninjas by Mary Pope Osborne (Magic Tree House #5)
4. Emily - Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
5. Ethan - The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka
6. Grace - Cinder Edna by Ellen Jackson
7. Juliana - The True Story of Little Red Riding Hood by Agnese Baruzzi
8. Miss Katie Jane - The Princess Curse by Merrie Haskell (12 Dancing Princesses, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty all rolled into one!)
9. Maddie - Falling In by Frances O'Roark Dowell (Red Riding Hood, Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland mashed together!)
10. Miss Polly - Ella's Big Chance: A Jazz Age Cinderella by Shirley Hughes
11. Sofia - The Gingerbread Cowboy by Janet Squires
Our craft this month was a little . . . fractured. We did an online mad libs game that resulted in some pretty hilarious fairy tale stories. And you can too! Just go to the website based on the popular Sisters Grimm book series by Michael Buckley.
Next month, Reader's Studio will be focusing on No Nonsense Nonfiction. If you want to be part of the fun on Monday, March 12 at 6:30 pm, just read a nonfiction book of your choice and call 444-7833 to make a reservation. If you are having a hard time choosing a title, why not take a look at some of these lists? They are filled with great reads!
