Reader's Studio Satisfied Its Craving for Books This Month
So, the weather was lousy and kept half of our group away (We missed you Mary Bailey, Uzma, Sahar, Rayleigh, Jayla, Kayla, Daniel, Ronnie, and Britteny!), but we didn't let it affect our fun. There were seven girls (nine if you count Miss Polly and Miss Katie Jane, which we definitely should) at Reader's Studio: Book Feast this Monday, November 14, 2011. Each girl brought a fabulous food book to share. Check out these tantalizing titles!
Alonda = Duck Soup by Jackie Urbanovic
Ana = Dinner with Olivia by Emily Salinger
Aziza = The Faraway Tree Stories by Enid Blyton (Aziza brought a copy that her mom has had since childhood. What a treat!)
Emily = Mercy Watson Thinks Like a Pig by Kate DiCamillo
Isabella = The Truth Cookie by Fiona Dunbar
Katie Jane = Candy Bomber: The Story of the Berlin Airlift's "Chocolate Pilot" by Michael O. Tunnell
MaryAlyce = Chocolate: Riches from the Rainforest by Robert Burleigh
Polly = The Teashop Girls by Laura Schaeffer
Sophia = Arnie the Doughnut by Laurie Keller
Miss Polly had a great idea for this month's craft. She wanted it to be edible (how thematic) and use food supplies we already had. The result--graham cracker mosaics. Pleasing to the eye and the palate.
The Reader's Studio will be celebrating Happy Holidaze on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 6:30 pm. If you're a 2nd-5th grader who loves books and crafts, we'd love to have you be part of the group. Just read a book featuring your favorite holiday, and bring it to next month's meeting. And, if you really want to spread some holiday cheer, bring a friend too! Just make sure you call the Kid Zone at 444-7833 to tell us you're coming.
