Hoover's weeklong salute to veterans will begin Friday, November 4 and last until Thursday, November 10. Join us for activities designed to honor those who have bravely served our country.

Displays
View the flags and uniforms of all the branches of our Armed Forces. Pause in tribute at the POW/MIA Remembrance Table. Be inspired by an exhibit of patriotic artwork created by The Exceptional Foundation. See the winners in our school-sponsored “Thank a Vet” poster contest.
Programs
Veterans Reception
All are welcome to join us in honoring those who served our country at the second annual Veterans' reception. The event will include guest speakers, food and live music by the 313th Army Band. All guests over the age of 18 will be eligible for a drawing for the DVD documentary series The Pacific, awarded at 3:30pm.

Lunch and Learn Book Discussion
Catherine Heinzerling will discuss the book Ship of Ghosts : The Story of the USS Houston, FDR's Legendary Lost Cruiser, and the Epic Saga of Her Survivors by James D. Hornfischer and delve deeper into its history.

Activities
Submit a photo for the Wall of Honor display. Sign the Veterans guestbook and accept our commemorative gift of thanks. Watch a montage of news reels from World War II. Check out a book about the military from our special book display. Wave a flag during storytime.
