Hoover's weeklong salute to veterans will begin Sunday, November 3rd and last until Sunday, November 10th. Join us for activities designed to honor those who have bravely served our country.

Veterans Reception

Sunday, November 3rd from 2 pm - 3:30 pm, @ The Library Plaza
Join us as we kick off Thank A Vet! Week with a reception honoring veterans.

Monday, November 4 - Refreshments at 9:45 am, Program at 10:00 am Theatre Level Meeting Rooms
Jeanne Averhart, recorder player, will present music to honor all veterans.

Monday at the Movies: Midway

Veterans Benefits Program

Tuesday, November 5 - Adult Programming Room 10:00 am
A seminar about VA benefits for veterans and their families. Presented by the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs and Birmingham's VA Medical Center. Reservations required. 444-7816.

Helping Hands: Holiday Mail for Heroes

Wednesday, November 6 - Nonfiction Department
Stop by the Nonfiction desk and add a personal message to a holiday card which will be donated to this annual Red Cross project.

Flag folding ceremonies will be held all week at 4:45 p.m. in front of the library. Submit a photo for the Wall of Honor display. Sign the Veterans guestbook and accept our commemorative gift of thanks. Watch a montage of newsreels from World War II. Check out a book about the military from our special book display. Wave a flag during storytime.
