ESL at HPL

The Hoover Public Library and the Friends of the Hoover Public Library are proud to partner with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation this year to bring ESL classes to the community for the fifteenth consecutive year. The Friends were recently awarded $6,000 to support adult literacy. This local grant is part of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s recent award of $10.5 million to support summer, family, and adult literacy programs, representing the organization’s largest one-day grant donation in its 29-year history. This year’s program will feature a variety of ways for participants to get involved. In addition to the in-person meetings from years past, there will also be virtual options for students in need of more flexibility. Separate beginner and advanced classes will be back, along with the addition of a placement exam and regular progress assessments. Classes are free and registration opens August 1, 2022 at 10:00 am.
